Lessons & Showing

Hunter/Jumper & Equitation Lessons

We  produce top quality riders and horsemen by teaching correct skills in a safe, fun and professional environment. Quality instruction is available year round for beginner riders just starting out, intermediate riders looking to advance their skills, and for those more advanced riders wishing to polish their competitive hunter/jumper performance in the show ring on the local rated or A circuit.

We are dedicated to helping our students meet their individual goals, whether they involve riding for pleasure, competition, or starting a new green prospect.  Private, semi-private, and group riding and horsemanship lessons are offered to children and adults on Tuesdays through Fridays from 12 pm to 7 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 12PM to 5PM.

For the well-being and longevity of our horses we have a 180 lb. weight limit.

Horsemanship & Riding Lessons - Ages 7+

Private (1 hour) – $65 each ($60 if purchasing a minimum of 4 lessons)
Group (
90 minutes)  - $40 each (based on 3 to 4 riders, time adjusted accordingly if less than 3 riders attend)

All new students take Horsemanship & Riding Lessons until they are competent at grooming, tacking and general safety procedures at Liberty Hill. This gives us the opportunity to teach students to properly care for our horses and equipment. Students with no prior experience can expect to take between 5-10 consistent lessons to master these skills, while younger riders will stay in supervised lessons until approximately age 10. Beginners take private lessons until skilled enough to join a semi private (2 riders) or group (3-4 riders) lesson.

Regular Hunt Seat Lessons - Ages: 10+

Private (30 minutes) or Semi Private (2 riders, 45 minutes) – $55 ea. ($50 if purchasing a minimum of 4 lessons)
60 minute Group Lesson (3 to 4 riders) – $30 each (time adjusted accordingly if lesson than 3 riders attend)

Riders can expect to develop a strong foundation in flatwork and jumping. More advanced riders will learn course work and show ring savvy. Riders must be capable of properly grooming, tacking up, cooling out, putting away horse, all equipment and are expected to do so at every lesson unless prior arrangements are made. Grooming/tacking services are available at additional cost, and regardless we do require that our students know how or learn how to groom and tack up themselves.

Pony Lovers

Ages 3-6 Rate: 30 minute private lessons $45 ea. ($40 each if purchasing a minimum of 4 lessons)

A gentle introduction to horsemanship and riding for the very small.

Working Students

Occasionally certain students show the desire to learn the finer details of horsemanship and riding at a higher and more dedicated level.  Students that take initiative are recognized and invited (as openings occur) to join our working student program. The benefits include the opportunity to earn practice rides, lessons and discounted show fees. Students must be committed, preferably at least two days per week and must have strong horsemanship and communication skills. Working Student’s time is given a $5 value per hour, which can be applied to offset the various expenses.  Students must also continue to be involved in our weekly lesson program. Interested students or parents should approach or email Kelly about this opportunity.

Horse Showing with Liberty Hill

Liberty Hill riders, horses and ponies travel to rated local shows about once a month or more dependent upon client needs from April to November, including Massachusetts Hunter Jumper Finals, Massachusetts Horseman’s Council Finals, New England Equitation Championships. Showing on the A-circuit in New England, New York, Virginia and Florida is available by request. We choose the shows we attend for their quality, location, cost effectiveness and competitive challenge. Look over our schedule and feel free to ask about attending other shows that may interest you. The experienced and talented Liberty Hill horses and ponies may be leased by the season or the day to participate in competition. We promote fun, good sportsmanship, and always take home our share of ribbons.   Liberty Hill riders have a very high rate of success, which speaks for our program.
